You know when you walk by or up to a bar or restaurant in the city and you think it’s going to look a certain way inside but when you open the door it’s totally different? That’s what Swift Hibernian Lounge is like. On the outside it looks like it will probably be just your ordinary bar, but when you walk in it seems like it goes on for miles. (Well, not really, but maybe half a block long. Well, not really that either, but still.) There’s a party room in the back that has been the setting for cask festivals.
It’s a cool place to hang out, with an extensive draft and bottle list featuring many local and imported selections. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. This bar is on our revisit list.
Swift Hibernian Lounge is located at 34 E 4 St in the East Village and is open from noon seven days a week. Closest subway is the 6 train at Astor Place.
