The first thing that strikes you about Mission Dolores when you visit is the space. The bar is all the way in the back and to get to it you walk through what feels like a tunnel, then out into an open patio, then through glass doors to the way back to get your beers. Tables and chairs are scattered throughout. It’s a unique and pretty cool place to drink – open and airy. Great for spring and summertime day drinking.
The beer list is always varied and fresh, the bartenders friendly and chatty. The bar has regular events with breweries like Dogfish and Founders. There is usually a cask ale available to contrast with a draft beer of a similar style. This is a good bar to bring big groups of people, put a bunch of tables together and set up camp for the whole afternoon.
Mission Dolores is located at 249 Fourth Ave in Brooklyn and is open from 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 2 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Closest subway is the R at Union Street.
