Next up in our series of Good Beer Seal posts: Against the Grain in the East Village.
Against the Grain is tiny. The bar could maybe fit a total of 25-30 people and fills up quickly on weekends. Early evenings are the best time to visit, when the bar is virtually empty and your $3 happy hour draft can be accompanied by $1 oysters.
The draft list is limited but well-curated with beers from breweries like Newburgh and Oskar Blues and bolstered by an extensive bottle list. The food is from its restaurant Grape and Grain next door and includes small plates as well as sandwiches and pizzas. A lovely, intimate place to escape and enjoy a drink and a bite.
Against the Grain is located at 620 East 6th St in the East Village and is open from 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Closest subways are the 6 at Astor Place or the F at 2nd Ave.
