Sarah and I met up with Robin at McSorley’s on East 7th on a Friday afternoon for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Weekday afternoons are definitely the time to visit this historic ale house. McSorly’s opened in 1854 and is understandably popular for its beer and character. On some weekend nights it’s so crowded you can hardly fit into the bar.
The beer options here are “light” and “dark.” The three of us went for a couple rounds of the “dark” option. It was roasty, smooth and went well with the burgers and sandwiches we had. The people at the next table had the bright idea to make their own black and tans out of the two beers. It was a great way to spend a lazy Friday afternoon.
