King’s Head Tavern has become a mainstay for us when we’re in the Union Square area and looking to grab a good beer without the crowds of some other local craft beer choices. Located on 14th Street between Second and Third avenues, the bar is easy to find and is rarely overcrowded. They boast a solid selection of imported and domestic craft beers and we like that they often have something from Chelsea Brewing Co. (so we don’t have to go all the way to the West Side to get a taste). The decor is one of our favorite things about King’s Head. With stocked book shelves, pew-style seating in the back, and a throne, you feel as though you’ve stepped into Britain.
