This Saturday February 25, the Get Real NY team is putting together one of their most ambitious festivals yet – aPORKalypse Now. The event will feature ten New York chefs cooking ten locally-sourced pigs for attendees to pair with an impressive beer list. Phillipe Roussel of Cafe D’Alsace, Christopher Parks of The Guilty Goose and Gabe Thompson of L’Artusi are among the chefs who will be cooking up the hogs. For anyone who hasn’t attended a pig roast where you can get all different cuts of the pig this will be quite the introduction (people who have been to one are probably already salivating).
While the food is sure to be delicious, we are most excited about the beer that will be available to pair with it. A wide variety of breweries and homebrewers will be serving their best beers. Local breweries seem to be bringing their A game with brews like barrel aged Bronx Brewery Pale Ale, Sixpoint Resin and Ich Bin Kein Berliner Weiss, Brooklyn Brewery Mary’s Maple Porter and Sorachi Ace, and Kelso’s new Rauchbier. We are also excited to have another shot at some Founders CBS and to try Dogfish Head Noble Rot and Oskar Blues Defiant. It’s rare to see so many of the highly regarded beers from so many breweries at the same festival. Guests should have fun finding pairings among these beers.
The festival will be held at 404 on Tenth Avenue in Manhattan. There will be two sessions, one from 1 to 4 p.m. and another from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $60.
