Since The Bronx Brewery released its Bronx Pale Ale in September it has become one of our go-to beers, a beautiful balance of bready malts and assertive American hops. Next week the brewery will release a new Bourbon Barrel Aged Pale Ale, a variant of its original Bronx Pale Ale aged in Woodford Bourbon Barrels, at Cafe D’Alsace. The addition of oak, vanilla and bourbon flavors from aging has made the beer even more harmonious (we tried it at aPORKalypse and it was probably our favorite of the event). The beer will be extremely limited, with only three hundred 22-ounce bottles available at Manhattan and Bronx restaurants and bars starting April 12.
Damian Brown and Chris Gallant from the brewery will be on hand at the Cafe D’Alsace tasting Wednesday April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss the new beer and the brewery. Gianni Cavicchi, the restaurant’s accomplished Beer Sommelier, will be pouring samples of the Bourbon Barrel Aged Pale Ale next to the original Bronx Pale Ale – we’re sure he will have some great pairing suggestions.
