Of all the bars that have the Good Beer Seal, The Diamond in Greenpoint was our favorite.
We were pretty surprised we loved it so much, too, because from the outside it doesn’t look like much. But then you walk inside to a retro, beachy-feeling from the bright decorations, shuffle board, and curved bar. The back patio is pretty sweet – it’s got a gondola in it.
The beer selection is solid with both American craft beers like Brooklyn Blast and quality imports like Reissdorf Kolsch (available in traditional trays) on the tap and bottle lists. The beer menu is separated by ABV so you know which beers you can sit down and have a few and which you need to be careful with. Prices are fairly reasonable, starting at $5 and heading up to some larger or rarer bottles in the $20 range (still not bad compared with most other bars). In addition to great beer the bar also features some delicious food like savory pies and a meat and cheese plate.
The Diamond is located at 43 Franklin St in Greenpoint. Closest subways are the G train at Nassau Ave and at Greenpoint Ave. It’s also a short walk from the Brooklyn Brewery.
