One of the breweries most impacted by Hurricane Sandy was Barrier Brewing. Shortly after the storm they posted a picture to Facebook showing damaged equipment and stating that the brewery was essentially destroyed. It was disheartening to see a brewery that experienced such a meteoric rise suffer such a set back, but true to form, the brewery is already making significant headway in their recovery efforts.
They have posted a few pictures of the recovery to their Facebook page and optimistically stated that they might be back in operation by the end of the year (quite a feat considering the damage). The brewery also posted pictures of what it is calling its “Submersion Series” from some of the fermenters that weren’t damaged in the flood (below). Barrier will be teaming up with Brewery Ommegang for Barrier Relief Belgian IPA which will be brewed at Ommegang in Cooperstown NY.
