NYC Craft Beer Festival Postponed

The Winter Harvest NYC Craft Beer Festival announced on their Facebook page today that they would be postponing the festival –  originally scheduled to take place on November 10 – to December 1 in deference to the recovery from hurricane Sandy. Hopefully the rescheduling of the event will allow for some brewers and distributors to recover and give attendees a welcome break from the stress of recovery. Tickets bought for November 10 will be honored for December 1 and session times will remain the same. NYC-Area Breweries Were Affected By Sandy

A sad toll of Hurricane Sandy was local businesses, including breweries. Brew York has been updating regularly about what’s been going on. Here is a roundup of some of the affects: Barrier Brewing Co. in Oceanside, Long Island is “destroyed” according to the brewery’s Facebook page. They posted the photo below. Brooklyn Brewery President Steve Hindy wrote in a blog post on the company’s website that though the Brewery in Williamsburg wasn’t affected, its distributor Phoenix/Beehive in Red Hook was flooded with five feet of water in its warehouse.
