NYC Craft Beer Festival Winter Harvest

Last Saturday we attended the NYC Craft Beer Festival – Winter Harvest. It was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy (having originally been scheduled for November 10) and the location was also changed. In spite of these factors – which could easily derail a festival of this size – we thought the event was great. A lot of breweries were pouring their beers, contributing to short lines (or no lines) and a good flow. NYC Brewers Guild Raises 10K for Sandy Relief

On Tuesday, the Brooklyn Brewery hosted “Drink for Good,” a Hurricane Sandy relief fundraiser held by the NYC Brewers Guild. The event raised $10,000, which will go to the Red Hook Initiative, Rockaway Surf Club and Coney Recovers. Pretty awesome! SingleCut Tap Room Opening

After much anticipation, Queens-based Singlecut Beersmiths will be opening its tap room this Saturday December 8. Singlecut will join Rockaway Brewing and Beyond Kombucha as that borough’s brewing representation. The new brewery will have a mix of lagers and ales many of which are billed as being hop heavy. Growlers will be available in both 32 and 64 ounces. The tap room will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and will be cash only.
