A recent addition to the Crown Heights bar scene has been Catfish, located at 1433 Bedford Ave. between Park and Prospect Place. After persevering in the face of some local opposition (apparently some residents in this particular segment of Crown Heights thought a bar would disturb the peace) the bar opened in January and has been serving up craft beer from its 16 rotating taps, often from local breweries like Captain Lawrence and Victory. You’ll be sure to find some Abita on draft, too.
The food menu is inspired by New Orleans eats, featuring mainstays like gumbo, po boy’s, and oysters, with regular specials like jambalaya or shrimp creole. We’re looking forward to warmer weather, so we can take advantage of the back patio. Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. with $2 off all drinks.
