For the fifth year in a row July in NYC is proclaimed – by the mayor, no less – Good Beer Month. Good Beer Month celebrates fine craft beer in the city with events, specials and the Craft Beer Passport. There are 40 bars in all five borough of New York City that are marked by the Good Beer Seal: a designation for bars that not only serve excellent craft beer but also make a commitment to the beer community.
Jimmy Carbone, owner at Jimmy’s No. 43 in the East Village, started the Good Beer Seal five years ago “with a focus on bars that were small and independently owned,” he explained.
You’ll find a list of all Good Beer Seal bars here (the list still includes Beer Table in Park Slope, which is now closed). We’re huge supporters of Good Beer month and the Good Beer Seal. (Remember last year when we visited all the bars in one month?) Visit your local bars, drink New York Beers!
Featured events for this year’s July Good Beer Month include:
July 1: A Kick-off Party at Idle Hands for the Get Real Craft Beer Passport. The Passport, $30, gets you a pint at 39 of the Good Beer Seal Bars. The Passport can be picked up at locations throughout the city, and is available for purchase here. Proceeds benefit The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Sandy Relief, The New York State Brewer’s Association and Heritage Radio Network.
