Visit Long Island Brewers

Many of you may be heading out to Eastern Long Island for the last long weekend of unofficial summer (we definitely are). If you are, there is good fresh beer available near the beaches and train stations. Here are some with weekend taproom hours worth visiting for a beer or a growler to take back for a barbecue.

Montauk Brewing – 62 South Erie Avenue, Montauk
Located right off of Montauk Highway the taproom is open from noon to 8 p.m. where you can get growlers of their flagship Driftwood Ale ESs.

Southampton Publick House – 40 Bowden Square, Southampton
Just a walk up the street from the main shopping strip in Southampton (and across the street from Tate’s Bakeshop) the Publick House is a great place to take a break from the beach and have a Double White to celebrate the end of the summer. The bar and restaurant are open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Greenport Harbor Brewing – 234 Carpenter Street, Greenport
Greenport is an lovely town to spend the day, and just a block off of Main Road the Greenport Harbor Brewing tasting room is a perfect place to visit after lunch or grab a growler to take home for dinner. The $10 tasting gets you a pint glass to go with the line up of their year round beers and the current seasonals. The tap room is open noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Port Jeff Brewing Co – 22 Mill Creek Road, Port Jefferson
Port Jefferson isn’t really a beach town but if you’re there for boating or if you come in on the ferry, Port Jeff Brewing is only a few blocks from the water and a block off of Main Street. The taproom is a fun experience; the the bar is made to look like a boat, and large windows show off the spotless brewhouse. The taproom is open from noon to 8 p.m.
