Saturday September 14 marks the famed Zwanze Day, when the highly regarded Belgian brewery Cantillon conducts a simultaneous world wide tapping of their limited Zwanze beer. It is a rare opportunity to participate in a specially timed tasting of one particular beer. New York City is lucky enough to have two bars that will be part of the festivities, Spuyten Duyvil and Alewife NYC will both be tapping their kegs at 3 p.m. on a first come first serve basis, so get there early. The beer itself is an abbey style ale that is fermented with the brewery’s wild yeast and blended with a lambic. Alewife is also taking the opportunity to roll out some other rare and popular beers like Allagash Midnight Brett, Dogfish 120 Minute, and Captain Lawrence’s sour Rosso e Marone.
