The headline is true, Bell’s Brewery, acclaimed producer of beers like Two Hearted Ale, an IPA, and the summer seasonal Oberon, plans to launch in New York City on February 10. The brewery entered the New York market with distribution upstate in early 2013. Bell’s announced the expansion into New York City on its blog yesterday with Laura Bell, Vice President of Bell’s Brewery, quoted as saying “We are excited to round out the state after an overwhelming response for our beer in Western and Upstate New York.”
Union Beer Distributors will distribute in New York City and their parent company company the Sheehan Group will distribute on Long Island. Based out of Kalamazoo and Comstock Michigan, Bell’s is among the larger and most popular craft brewers in the country. Bell’s will start out in NYC with Two Hearted Ale, Amber, Porter, Midwestern Pale Ale, Kalamazoo Stout, Oarsman Ale, and their rotating seasonals.
Many larger craft brewers like Bell’s and New Belgium, which still does not distribute in New York City, have been hesitant about entering the large and daunting market. We’re very excited to welcome Bell’s in the city, and hope New Belgium soon follows suit!
