This Saturday, May 10, Finback Brewery, located in Forest Hills, Queens, will hold the grand opening of its tasting room. From 2 to 8 p.m., the event will feature special priced pours and barbecue.
Founded by friends and homebrewers Basil Lee and Kevin Stafford (above), Finback Brewery launched in New York City in January. Among the beers they’ve released include Puffin, a roasty smoked porter, and Double Sess(ion), a delicious, floral, spicy witbier.
Lee told BeerUnion in January, “I think Kevin and I have interesting backgrounds – a graphic designer and an architect who are both serious beer drinkers and brewers. I think having a creative background lets us think about beer and flavor and concept differently. I think we are beer guys but with a slightly different culture that will be interesting.”
Finback ‘s taproom joins the growing roster of taprooms open in Queens that includes Rockaway Brewing Company, SingleCut Beersmiths, Big Alice Brewing and Transmitter Brewing. The oft-forgotten borough has surged to the front of the NYC craft beer scene with the most opportunities for beer lovers to taste fresh brews.
Finback Brewery is located at 78-01 77th avenue, Queens, New York 11385
