You can now visit the first production brewery to open in Brooklyn in almost 10 years. Other Half Brewing Company began producing and distributing beers at the end of 2013, and now its taproom is open.
Located at 195 Centre St in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood, Other Half was founded by Sam Richardson and Matt Monahan. Both had previously worked under Kelly Taylor at Greenpoint Beer Works, Richardson (pictured at left) as head brewer.
Since its launch, Richardson and Monahan have made a name for themselves with their flavorful West Coast style IPAs. “NYC is a pretty unique market. People have high expectations here and there is a lot of access to beers from all over the country and the world, so you really need to be on top of things,” Richardson told BeerUnion in January. “We are going to bring bombastic IPAs and hopefully some awesome sour beer to NYC.”
The Other Half Brewing Taproom is open on Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
