Third Rail Beer to Launch in NYC

New York City’s long-awaited explosion of brewers looks to have no end in sight. We’ve already seen the likes of Finback Brewing, Gun Hill Brewing, Transmitter Brewing, and Flagship Brewing open within the past year. You can now add Third Rail Beer. Founders Loren Taylor-Raymond, Kaitlyn Haubrich, and Larry Koestler are all native New Yorkers and the new brewery is based out of Manhattan. In a reflection of the cost of opening a brewery in New York City Third Rail Beer is joining the ranks of tenant and nomad brewers. The beer is brewed up in Rhode Island at Coastal…

Started by Chris Gallant and brewer Damian Brown, Sean McCain joined the team a year later. Several seasonal beers followed the Pale Ale: a Rye Pale Ale, a Black Pale Ale, a Belgian Pale Ale and a Summer Pale Ale. Brown has also experimented with a handful of specialty beers. Closing Out Our Book Tour

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but this weekend will mark the last event in our book tour, at least for a while. Bernstein at The Strand Bookstore in Manhattan for a “Books on Tap” panel event celebrating New York City Beer Week, moderated by Cowan. It was one of the first events we participated in to promote our book, Beer Lover’s New…

Brewing Up a Wedding

A homebrewer’s journal, by John Kleinchester It’s been a bit difficult for me to find time for homebrewing lately. My day job has changed and well, yeah, I’m really just making excuses. I can find time. I just haven’t much lately. Thankfully, my good friend and homebrewing partner Jeff has never lost his brew-footing. He’s consistently churning out world-class beer. We often brew together, but it’s not always easy to find time to make that happen either. When he announced not too long ago that he was getting married, it was never even a question whether or not there would…
