July Good Beer Month is back for its sixth year. Started by Jimmy Carbone and the Good Beer Seal, Good Beer Month is a way to celebrate great breweries, beers and bars throughout New York City’s five boroughs, Long Island, Jersey City and Westchester. Here are some can’t miss events throughout July:
July 8: Beer Trivia Night 8 p.m., at Glorietta Baldy. The Beerded Ladies present a beer trivia events sponsored by Allagash Brewing. Compete for brewery swag.
July 9: “Beer in the ‘Burbs,” 7 p.m., at The Greene Space. Representatives from breweries on Long Island and in the Hudson Valley talk about brewing in the suburbs and pour some of their beers. Featuring Tommy Keegan of Keegan Ales, Paul Dlugokencky of Blind Bat Brewery, and Justin Taylor and Adam Watson of Sloop Brewing. Band The Dirty Gems will provide the tunes. July 10: Owl Farm Mystic Brewing Launch. The brewery from Chelsea, Mass., is launching in NYC at Park Slope’s The Owl Farm bar.
July 12: Coney Island On Tap, 1 to 4 p.m. at Coney Island’s MCU Park. The featured beer festival of July Good Beer Month. Tickets and more info here.
July 14: Kegs & Kluckers, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Brewery. A fundraiser for Just Food’s City Chicken Project, featuring Brooklyn Brewery beers, local eats, a raffle and a deviled egg competition. Tickets are $25, purchase them here.
July 16: “Hops, Aroma and Flavor,” 7 p.m. at The Greene Space. Long Island hop grower John Condzella, Kelly Taylor, of Kelso Brewing, and Mark Buford of Long Island’s Blue Point Brewing Company conduct a guided tasting and explain how different varieties of hops affect bitterness, flavor and aroma of beer. Brooklyn alt-soul band Aabaraki will play some tunes. Tickets are $25, purchase them here.
July 22: Brooklyn v. Queens on Beer Sessions Radio. A special episode of Beer Sessions, presented by Edible Magazine, featuring brewers pouring their favorite beers on air. Listen here at 5 p.m.
July 23: “Pairing Beer and Food,” 7 p.m. at The Greene Space. Learn the principals of beer pairing and taste a few pairs with Brendan Woodcock from Luksus At Tørst in Brooklyn, Augie Carton from New Jersey’s Carton Brewing, and Christian Pappanicholas from The Cannibal in Midtown. July 26: Bacon & Beer Classic, 12 to 3 p.m. at Citi Field. Taste samples of craft beers alongside bacon-inspired foods, live music, games and cooking demos. General admission tickets are $59, available here.
July 29: Beer Film Festival, 7 p.m. at Anthology Film Archives. Featuring short films and videos curated by the Happy Hour Guys and Beer Nation TV, with beer from 508 Gastrobrewery brewmaster Chris Cuzme. Tickets are $15, available here.
July 31: Good Beer, 6 to 9 p.m., at 82 Mercer. Edible presents the sixth annual Good Beer event, the culmination of Good Beer Month. Featuring some of the best breweries, paired with great NYC eats. General admission tickets are $65, or $75 including a magazine subscription. Purchase here.
