Floyd Eats: Beer Cheese, Now Crackers

You may have seen Floyd’s Beer Cheese, but did you know the team behind the cheese is the same team that runs Union Hall, The Bell House and Floyd? Kevin Avanzato, Jim Carden and Andy Templar are now launching a beer cracker as a compliment to the cheese. Celebrate NYC Beer with the NYC Brewers Guild

The wide variety of New York City’s brewers will be on display Saturday, September 20, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the NYC Brewers Guild Blocktoberfest party in Brooklyn. The guild’s newest members will be pouring and include Transmitter Brewing, Bridge and Tunnel Brewery, Flagship Brewing, Big Alice Brewing, and Grimm Artisanal Ales. The event seeks to raise funds for the guild to run NYC Beer Week 2015. Drinkers can purchase a VIP ticket for entry at 12:30 p.m. and unlimited tastings for $30 or general admission for $10 and then $5 tickets for each 12oz beer. You can purchase…

Fool’s Gold, Lower East Side

A mishmash of local craft rockstars (Idle Hands, The Jeffrey, Alewife) opened the Lower East Side haunt in 2013, combining their passion for great beer and food with an aesthetic that fits the hipper-than-hip neighborhood. Big, open windows welcome Houston Street passersby inside, where 30 rotating taps, a vast array of high end liquors and $1 happy hour oysters make them stay for hours.
